BOOTH STREET STAIRS / MILWAUKEE

A steel staircase connecting two Milwaukee neighborhoods, the Booth Street Stairs are as much an urban art installation as they are functional. By traversing a 67 foot drop-off, the staircase is able to divert pedestrian traffic to the Beerline neighborhood much faster than was perviously possible. The project was completed by Vetter Denk Architecture Inc. and has now been a fixture in the neighborhood for a decade.
We previously shot some duffle bag and backpack product photography here for Commonplace last year, but wanted to return again to photograph the structure in more detail. Like the Humboldt Park Chalet before, this was a challenge to photograph in full. A lover of smooth/clean photo backgrounds, the cityscape behind is ideal in person, but not as much in photographs. Regardless, it was fun to hop around and grab a bunch of different angles. Minus some minor graffiti, the stairs are still in good shape and make for a nice addition to this area of Milwaukee.
This week we have some new products set to arrive and will plan on a couple product features here in the Journal. We are expanding our design goods inventory - starting with some new designs and restocks from Good Thing - something that has long been planned.
